ASU SoLS Faculty: William P. Sharp

Senior Research Professional and laboratory manager of the Life Sciences Electron Microscope Facility. Mr. Sharp came to Arizona State University in 1974, first as a graduate student and teaching/research assistant and in 1978 as a full time staff member in the Life Sciences Electron Microscope Facility. The EM facility has as its director a full time tenure track faculty member and an academic professional as laboratory manager. The resources of the EM lab are open to life scientists and others in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who are qualified to use the instruments and facilities. This includes graduate students who have successfully completed the necessary course work and who require access to complete research toward a degree.

I collaborate in research with various members of the Life Science Departments covering a broad range of fields including the technical as well as the scientific. Areas of particular interest to me include morphological and ultrastructural aspects of plant and bacterial taxonomy, the use of microanalytical techniques in plant and bacterial taxonomy and physiology, and imaging and documentation techniques.
