Overview

The School of Life Sciences (SoLS) Current Graduate Student Resource Web Site is an academic and career planning resource. This site provides information and web connections to help you successfully complete your degree, find fellowships and research funding, access online research resources, learn about other graduate programs, find a postdoctoral position or a job, and have fun both on and off campus. Good luck in your pursuits!

Our mission is to provide high quality graduate students with a broad interdisciplinary training in modern approaches to Life Sciences research, and to equip them with the requisite tools and skills they will need to embark successfully on their career paths. Under the guidance of top level faculty and with access to modern Research Facilities, graduates are successfully migrating into exciting careers.

Students admitted to SoLS are typically supported by either teaching or research assistantships. Additional Financial Support provided by the Graduate Programs Office includes supplemental summer stipends and conference travel grants. However, students are encouraged to seek out and apply for funding from other internal and external sources. Check out the Funding Information page for more information.

The School of Life Sciences Graduate Program offers the following degree programs:

The iGELS program consists of a series of Research Focus Areas and Concentrations, which forms the basis for a student's research education and training leading to a degree in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular and Cellular Biology or Plant Biology. Many of the areas and concentrations will have a parallel counterpart in another academic unit, providing excellent opportunities for interaction between disciplines.
