The iGEL Training Group in Genetics, Cell and Developmental Biology provides research programs, discussion groups and courses aimed at understanding the functions and structure of cells and regulation of their activities. Our research programs are particularly strong in developmental mechanisms, organelle biogenesis, signal transduction and the response of cells to environmental cues. Students in all life sciences graduate degree programs (MCB, Biology, Microbiology and Plant Biology) are welcome. It is anticipated that graduate students in this training group will carry out research at the cellular or molecular level with one of the faculty below as mentor. The student's program of study should include a selection of the courses recommended below and at least two literature seminars on topics important to cell and molecular biology.
