Help

  • help.asu.edu – Main UTO page for tech write–ups. Check first for email, Blackboard, CPS, other non–desktop questions.

Software

  • Office 2007 Windows, Office 2008 Mac, Windows XP/Vista –– $65 editions. Available at ASU Computer Bookstore to students w/ current enrollment. Full  versions.
  • Endnote X2 ˜$75 at ASU Computer Bookstore.
  • Refworks–free citation manager available from ASU Library home page.

Policy

  • SOLS UTO has limited staff. Personally owned computers are provided assistance as available.

Resources

  • myapps.asu.edu – a large number of applications (MATLAB to PhotoShop) run on a web browser. Also available as MyApps from MyASU portal.
  • MyFiles.asu.edu – everyone has 4GB of space. Can access with web browser from MyASU page, or ssh/sftp as general.asu.edu—your files will be in asu.edu/users/j/o/h/johndoe for an ASURITE of johndoe. Very secure storage—keep thesis/dissertation, current papers, etc here.
  • Graduate computer lab: Three iMacs w/ Mac and Windows and a high–speed copier scanner. The computers can print to the copier. The copier can scan to PDF and email you the file; all your names and addresses have been added to the built–in address book. Just select send instead of copy and follow the prompts.
  • myapps.asu.edu – downloadable software and links to low–cost software
