EM Laboratory Fees

General Rules

1. Work carried out by not-for-profit or academic institutions outside of ASU will be charged 1.5 times the fees of ASU units (ASU does not obtain indirect costs from such users). Collaborative research¹ involving ASU groups is charged the ASU rate for not-for-profit institutions and 1.5 times ASU rate for for-profit institutions (all fees listed below are ASU rates).

2. Work carried out by for- profit institutions or industries will be charged 2.5-fold higher fees than ASU units.

3. Work carried out by the laboratory staff as a service for ASU groups or for other parties (often referred to as "fee-for-service") will be charged the applicable facility use fee as schedule permits..

4. SOLS researchers and faculty in need of bioimaging funding support can apply for limited funds through the RTI office. The request for funding support form can be downloaded here.

Charges for use of LSEMF Resources

The fees for electron microscope time are for active beam time. Eventually, accounting devices that automatically control access to each instrument will be obtained and installed. Until that time, we will resort to a daily log sheet or a logbook in which each operator writes down beginning and ending times for use. The ancillary instrumentation time will be accounted for using a logbook.

Each person wishing to use the LSEMF instrumentation or prep equipment, or who requires material assistance from LSEMF personnel must submit a completed form listing the project, goals, account number to charge, and authorization of the responsible party before proceeding.

¹ Collaborative research is defined as working with a staff researcher or faculty member at ASU and that the collaborator is listed as an author on any publication resulting from the work. Collaborative research is at the discretion of the individual staff researcher and or faculty member.
