be offering the following classes
throughout the Fall 2007 semester.
Please see the schedule below for class
dates and times. Faculty, staff, and graduate
students are encouraged to attend. All classes
are free. Register to attend by completing the
registration form at the bottom of this page.
Registration is open until noon of the day before
the class is scheduled to be offered.

Class Descriptions
HTML I - with Microsoft FrontPage
An introduction to creating web pages using
Microsoft FrontPage. Topics include: how HTML pages work, adding
color, placing images, and creating links.
HTML II - with Microsoft FrontPage
An introduction to creating web pages using
Microsoft FrontPage. Topics include: using tables to format
text and page design. Participants will complete
an exercise incorporating all of the skills
learned in the HTML I and HTML II workshops.
Photoshop I
An introduction to using Adobe Photoshop to
work on images. Topics include: image file formats,
resolution, adjusting image size, Photoshop
menus, commonly-used tools.
Photoshop II
An introduction to using the drawing tools in Adobe Photoshop to create
graphics and to modify images.
Photoshop III
New this year, Photoshop III will delve into more advanced topics, including correcting digital image problems commonly encountered when using using digital cameras.
Microsoft Word Formatting
for Thesis and Dissertation Documents
This class covers how to use Microsoft Word
to format your professional documents. We will
also discuss creating PDF documents using Adobe
Acrobat.
Adobe Illustrator Basics
An introduction to using Adobe Illustrator graphic design and layout. Topics include: image and text handling, object tools, and preparing content for printing.
Adobe InDesign Basics
An introduction to using Adobe InDesign graphic design and layout. Topics include: image and text handling, object tools, and preparing content for printing.
Creating Posters using Microsoft PowerPoint
This class focuses on how to design posters for presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint. Topics include: file setup, layout, background colors, text boxes, and placing images.
Creating Presentations using PowerPoint and Corel Presentations
This class focuses on how to design slides for presentations using Microsoft
PowerPoint and Corel Presentations. Topics include: slide layouts,
background colors, text boxes, and placing images. The procedures for
producing slides on Ansel, the Life Sciences Visualization Lab's film
recorder, will also be discussed.
