Research and Training Initiatives Office |RTI|

The primary goals of the RTI office are:

  1. To facilitate the success of SoLS faculty, staff, and students in obtaining the funding that will allow us to achieve our research and teaching aspirations.
  2. To increase the cohesiveness of SoLS as an organization.
  3. To raise the profile of SoLS faculty, staff, and students, both within the ASU community and beyond.

In support of these goals, the RTI office engages in the following activities:

  • Grant proposal preparation: Note especially the opportunities for junior faculty to obtain editing and internal peer review services.

  • Funding alerts: The RTI office collects and distributes new grant funding RFPs and limited submission opportunities, runs workshops to train SOLS personnel in searching for idividual funding opportunities.

  • SOLS Initiatives Program: Catalyze “new, bold” initiatives to raise the quality, visibility and impact of the science in SoLS to a higher level and to forge creative and logical interactions that will help research and training.

  • Support for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Researchers

  • Education and public outreach (EPO): We help SOLS faculty develop EPO components for grant proposals and assist with their administration upon receiving an award.

  • Media relations and internal communication :  We develop press releases, prepare articles for internal publications, and are involved in producing the SoLS magazine.  Contact Peggy Coulombe with newsworthy items.

  • SOLS seminars are Fridays 2-3 pm in LSE104. Refreshments before seminar, so please come early and get acquainted with your new colleagues. The Research & Training Initiatives Committee (RTI) doubles as the seminar committee.

  • Events :  The RTI office coordinates the activities of the ad hoc SOLS Events committee to plan and implement social, service, and outreach activities that bring members of SOLS together for common purposes.

  • Core facilities: The RTI office is involved in administering relevant core research facilities.
