Proposal Preparation Support

One of the main goals of the RTI office is to take away the administrative burden associated with the proposal submission process. On this page you will find various resources to assist in grant preparation. Please feel free to visit us in person with whatever questions you have.

Education and Public Outreach Templates

These are templates related to K-12 education / public outreach components that have been put into place by RTI to strengthen NSF proposals (or any other proposal) that requires or benefits from EPO of this kind. Please come see us to discuss the details of how these activities are to work.

"Borrow a Biologist": Activity in which PI and graduate student interact a biology teacher and his/her students to develop an educational activity related to the research topic; or, in which the pi works with a science educator to run a teacher workshop to develop an educational activity related to the research topic.

"Be a Biologist": Activity in which the PI sponsors high school student interns in his/her lab and involves them in the research project.

"Ask a Biologist": Activity in which the PI works with the existing Ask a Biologist program to develop on-line materials relevant to their research area.

Facilities Description Templates

These are template descriptions of major shared instruments and laboratories available to SOLS researchers for use in grant proposals. Facilility descriptions are included for: the DNA lab, the Keck Bioimaging Lab, the Keck Biogeochemistry Lab, the Goldwater Environmental Lab, the Honeybee Research Laboratory, the EPR Lab, the Electron Microscope Facility, the Proteomics and Protein Chemistry Facility, the Natural History Collections, and various animal care facilities.
