Sierra Ancha Station
Location

 

A round trip from ASU main campus to the Station with on-site travel is usually about 400 km (250 miles) per vehicle and averages 2.5 hours one-way. Starting in Tempe, proceed east on U.S. Highway 60 through Miami to Claypool, then north on AZ Highway 188, 14.2 miles to AZ Highway 288. Continue north on 288; it is unpaved after 12.2 miles. Continue 7.5 miles to the Station's gated entrance which is marked by a "Trailhead 160" sign on the right, just north of an Arizona Department of Transportation maintenance yard, also on the right (0.25 to 0.50 miles after crossing Parker Creek). You will be provided with a key that unlocks the padlock on the gate as well as your designated cabin(s). You will also be provided an information packet that gives details on cabins, opening/closing instructions and other important station information.
