Dr. Jeffery M. Trent Joins the School of Life Sciences as Newest Faculty Member
Dr. Jeffrey Trent is President and Scientific Director of the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), a non- profit bio-medical research institute in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to forming TGen, Dr. Trent served for ten years as the Scientific Director for the National Human Genome Research Institute of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Trent’s research has provided important insights into the genetic basis of cancer. He is the author of over 300 manuscripts in the scientific literature, has received numerous honors and awards, and sits on the editorial boards of multiple scientific publications.
Current work in Dr. Trent's laboratory focuses on the study of genetic changes related to cancer predisposition and progression. For more than a decade his research has focused on the genetic susceptibility to human cancer. This includes High-throughput RNAi analysis integrated with gene expression, gene mutation and gene copy variation. This systems based approach is yielding valuable information on the functional consequences of genomic re-arrangements.
