SOLS Professor Jeanne Wilson-Rawls' Research Featured in GermOnline

GermOnline 2005

SOLS Assistant Professor Jeanne Wilson-Rawls research is featured in GermOnline as Gene of the Month. Her work shows that in the absence of Lunatic fringe the Notch signaling pathway is turned off in the granulosa cells that support the oocyte during its development.  This results in oocytes that do not undergo meiosis correctly and as a result they are not fertile.  This is the first instance of a defect in granulosa cells that results in a meiotic defect and underscores the importance of cross-talk between these cells and oocytes.
