Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Whom can I contact if my questions are not answered on this FAQ page?
Feel free to contact the Visualization Lab using this online form with any questions you have regarding poster printing.

What are the hours for the Life Sciences Visualization Lab?
The Visualization Lab is open Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm. Generally, the lab is closed for an hour during lunch around noon. At times, the staff members are called out on jobs and the lab is closed during these times. If you are planning to come by the lab, please phone ahead to be sure someone available.

What are the size requirements for my poster?
The maximum poster size for all symposium posters is 40 inches wide by 48 inches long. Please note that this is portrait orientation. Do not design your poster in a horizontal format. If you plan to have your poster printed on a large format printer other than the one in the Visualization Lab, please contact that location prior to creating your poster. Some printers may not be able to print a poster greater than 3 feet wide.

What information must I put in the acknowledgements section of my poster?
All students should have an acknowledgement section on their poster. For BREU students, you need to include the following acknowledgement...

"Support for this research was provided in part by grants from the ASU Office of the Provost through the School of Life Sciences Undergraduate Biology Enrichment Program."

For all other students, please check with your program to see what information should be included in this section. You should acknowledge where your funding came from!

Where and when do I bring my web abstract/poster materials?
Poster titles, abstracts, and completed Abstract Approval Forms are due in the SOLSEP Office (LSC Rm. 226) by 5pm on Friday, January 19, 2007.
We encourage and welcome submissions before this date if at all possible.

Where can I purchase carrying tubes for my poster?
There are a couple places close to the university at which you can purchase poster tubes.

What file formats are acceptable for text materials for the web?
The ONLY file formats we will accept are WordPerfect (PC version) and MS Word (PC and Mac versions). Remember to turn in both a hard copy of your text and a digital version on disk.
