Policies

Table reservation policy:

  • Teaching assistants are encouraged to check out a colored tag for the class that they are instructing and place that tag on the table during their time in the meeting room. This will allow the teaching assistant to offer assistance to a range of students.
  • Tables must be reserved by a teaching assistant at least 24 hours in advance, through the staff of the Learning Center.
  • The table may be reserved for up to only 1 hour per day by an individual teaching assistant.
  • Recurring table reservations can be made, within the scope of described policies, e.g. no more than one hour per day per teaching assistant.
  • The table may be reserved by two or more teaching assistants for the same course, but the reserved time will not exceed the hour per teaching assistant allowed.
  • Reservations will be cancelled 15 minutes after the reservation time has elapsed and the teaching assistant has not claimed a tag from the office staff.
  • Recurring table reservations can be made, within the scope of described policies, e.g. no more than one hour per day per teaching assistant.

Conference room reservation policy:

  • The Learning Center meeting room cannot be reserved for large groups during regular business hours, except in exceptional circumstances.
  • After hours, room reservations for large groups can be made through a Learning Center staff member by completing a Room Reservation form.
  • The key for the meeting room only can be checked out through Fidel Torres in LSC 206E, when the office is open.
  • The key can only be checked out to a faculty or staff member within SOLS. That person is responsible for the room organization and key return.
  • Room reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance of the reservation.
  • Reservations will be made on a “first come, first served” basis.
  • Key pick up must be made 1 hour before close of business in the Learning Center, the day of the reservation.
  • Key return to the staff of the Learning Center must be made before 10am the day after the reservation.
  • Lost keys will result in a $100 replacement cost.
  • Any damaged or missing items incurred during the after hours reservation will be debited to the faculty or staff responsible for the key.
  • All furniture must be replaced in its original location after the event.
  • Failure to follow the set policies of the Learning Center will result in the revocation of room use privilege.

Center general policies:

  • No Food or Drink is permitted in the computer room
  • Food or Drink is permitted in the meeting room only with explicit permission from the staff on duty.
  • Water in sealed containers may be stored on the floor while using both rooms of the Learning Center.
  • The furniture is not to be moved outside the room for any amount of time.
  • Failure to comply with any of the stated policies will result in refusal for entrance and barring of that individual from using the facilities.

Computer use policy

  • Each computer is checked out by picking up a colored tag with the computer number on it. The colored tags are available from the front desk, and are received in exchange for some form of student identification. The tags correspond with the computer to use.
  • A maximum of two students are allowed per computer.
  • Computers are on a “first come, first served” basis.
  • The maximum allowed time for using a computer is 2 hours. You will be notified 15 minutes before your time is finished.
  • Computers cannot be reserved.
  • Computer time will be forfeited when the user leaves the computer for longer than 15 minutes.
  • Appropriate computer usage/printing will be monitored by the staff member at the front desk.
  • Printing will cost $0.08 per sheet, purchased using a sun card.
  • Inappropriate computer usage/printing will be reported immediately to the LC manager, IT and campus officials and will result in the student being barred from using the facilities indefinitely, along with other possible university and legal sanctions.

Loggin In and Out

In an effort to effectively track student use of the facility, students are now required to provide an ASU ID number and form of ID to the desk staff. The staff will log the student into either the computer room or the study room. The information will be used only to generate center statistics.
