Inclusivity

An ASU School of Life Sciences note from the director

Building an inclusive community

Arizona State University School of Life Sciences (SOLS) is committed to addressing systemic prejudices within our institution, and cultivating a community of excellence, innovation, accessibility, and inclusiveness.

As a school, we embrace a rapidly changing world to solve emerging problems and advance scientific discovery. We strive to engage our students in inspiring research and learning experiences, preparing them to thrive in a dynamic and demanding world. Our commitment to fostering an inclusive atmosphere and building a diverse community of visionary students and researchers is essential to our mission as a school, and as a university.

“ASU is a comprehensive public research university, measured not by whom we exclude, but rather by whom we include and how they succeed; advancing research and discovery of public value; and assuming fundamental responsibility for the economic, social, cultural and overall health of the communities it serves.” -- ASU Charter

As we work together to accomplish our goals, we hope you will take advantage of the many opportunities the SOLS Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Initiatives provide to deepen your understanding, broaden your perspective, and facilitate a long-term culture shift within our community. Each of us shares in the responsibility to create a safe and inclusive environment for the Life Sciences community.
