Raised in Arizona, Yanet graduated from Maryvale High School in Spring of 2013 and began her Higher Education studies at Arizona State Univeristy as a first-generation student, where she would ultimately earn a BS degree in Justice Studies. During her time at ASU as an undergraduate, Yanet was a part of Army ROTC, Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Incorporated, NALFO and Sigma Alpha Lambda. After graduation, she briefly worked at the Arizona Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer, and later moved into the advising setting at ASU as the School of Life Sciences' Student Services Assistant where she assisted with all of the front office operations, and most recently became an Academic Success Advisor. Yanet is also pursuing her Master's in Higher and Post-Secondary Education.

Yanet enjoys traveling, camping and playing with her puppies: Goku and Pepper.
