Summer Undergraduate Minority Mentoring and Internship Training (SUMMIT)
Applications now being accepted
About
We are looking for undergraduate students interested in participating in the Summer Undergraduate Minority Mentoring and Internship Training (SUMMIT) program during the summer of 2024.
SUMIT offers research internships sponsored by the National Science Foundation that support research and learning opportunities by undergraduate students in Plant Sciences and related STEM fields. Students from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply, particularly those that lack full representation among the top-level scientists in the field.

Objective
The objectives are to help students build their skill sets to succeed in sciences and learn about graduate school experience with the help of a mentor and a community of scientists. You will carry out an individual research project in-person at ASU Tempe campus or at Cornell University.
Projects
Our projects are focused on understanding genome stability and change, and involve a range of topics from investigating plant DNA break repair, homologous recombination, to ploidy level control using laboratory techniques and/or computational biology methods. You will be mentored by a lab member who has a PhD degree to develop your own project and participate in activities hosted by our collaborative laboratories.
Details
The appointment is a 10-week full-time summer internship potentially starting at the first week of June and carries a stipend with additional funding for food and lodging expenses. If interested, please submit your resume to Shahzad Shah at sshah246@asu.edu by March 5.
